🌿 The Great Exhale

Deep Dive: Dry Brushing — A Ritual for Detox, Digestion & Nervous System Support

The skin is an organ of elimination. Stimulating it intentionally wakes up the systems responsible for clearing stagnation.

How it helps:

  • Supports Detox Pathways: Stimulates the lymphatic system, which relies on movement (not a pump) to clear waste.
  • Improves Gut Health Indirectly: Better lymphatic drainage lowers inflammation and stimulates the Vagus Nerve connection in the skin.
  • Restores Circulation: Increases blood flow to the skin.
  • Signals Safety: Rhythmic touch calms the nervous system.

How to do it: Use a natural-bristle brush, always brushing toward your heart.

  • Feet & legs: soles upward toward knees and thighs.
  • Arms: fingertips upward toward shoulders.
  • Armpits: small circular strokes (major lymph node cluster).
  • Stomach: brush clockwise only, following the natural path of digestion.
  • Chest: brush gently from neck down toward the heart.

When: Morning, or before a shower. Pressure: firm but not harsh — pink skin is good, red skin is too hard.
